Mela Patt (Bhaderwahi)

February 20, 2026

Purmandal Mela is a sacred and historic fair held at Purmandal, a holy town located on the banks of River Devika, around 40 km from Jammu. Often referred to as “Chhota Kashi”, Purmandal is famous for its ancient temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

About the Mela:

  • The Mela is celebrated during Shivratri and other auspicious occasions, attracting thousands of pilgrims and visitors.

  • Devotees take a holy dip in the Devika River, believed to wash away sins, and offer prayers at the ancient temples.

  • The fairgrounds come alive with stalls of religious items, sweets, handicrafts, local delicacies, and cultural displays.

  • Traditional folk performances and devotional songs create a deeply spiritual and festive environment.

The Purmandal Mela is not only a pilgrimage but also a cultural celebration of Dogra heritage, where faith, tradition, and festivity come together in harmony.
