Mela Patt (Bhaderwahi)
Machail Mata Yatra is one of the most significant cultural festivals of the Bhaderwah region in Jammu. Celebrated every year on the day of Naga Panchami, it commemorates the visit of Emperor Akbar’s envoy who presented the royal robe of honour (Patt) to Raja Nagpal, a local ruler and devotee of Vasuki Nag. The festival showcases deep devotion to Vasuki Nag, the serpent deity revered in the region.
The three-day celebration brings together locals and visitors alike, with vibrant processions, folk music, dance performances, and devotional offerings at the historic Vasuki Nag temple. It reflects the unique blend of spirituality, tradition, and cultural pride of the Bhaderwah valley.
