Terms & Conditions

These terms apply when you use the Folk Experience website, submit an enquiry, or travel on one of our journeys. By using the site or confirming a booking, you agree to them.

Last updated: September 2026

1. About us

Folk Experience designs and operates cultural journeys, day tours and curated itineraries across India. Throughout these terms, 'we', 'us' and 'Folk Experience' mean the company, and 'you' means the traveller or the person making an enquiry or booking.

2. Enquiries and bookings

All journeys and day tours listed on this site are taken on an enquiry basis. Submitting a form does not create a confirmed booking. Our team will contact you to discuss dates, group size and arrangements; a booking is confirmed only when we send you a written confirmation.

3. Itineraries and changes

Our journeys are built around living communities, seasons and festivals. Timings, hosts, routes and stays may change because of weather, local events, safety advice or host availability. We will always tell you promptly and offer the closest possible alternative.

4. Traveller responsibilities

You are responsible for giving accurate information, holding valid identification, visas and permits, arranging travel insurance, declaring medical or dietary needs in advance, and behaving respectfully towards hosts, artisans and the places you visit. We may end a journey without refund if behaviour endangers others or disrespects a host community.

5. Health, safety and insurance

Some experiences involve walking on uneven ground, rural roads, high altitude or traditional kitchens. Please assess your own fitness and tell us about any condition that may affect participation. Comprehensive travel and medical insurance is strongly recommended for all travellers.

6. Photography and stories

We sometimes photograph or film journeys for our stories and vlogs. Tell your journey lead if you prefer not to appear and we will respect that. Photographs of hosts and artisans are always shared with their consent.

7. Intellectual property

All text, photographs, films, illustrations and itinerary designs on this website belong to Folk Experience or the artists we work with. You may share links freely, but please do not reproduce our material commercially without written permission.

8. Liability

We take great care selecting hosts and partners, but we are not liable for loss, injury or delay caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including weather, strikes, transport disruption, illness or acts of government.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir.
